How To Change Instagram To A Business Profile
There are several benefits of changing your Instagram profile from personal to a business account - useful account analytics, the ability to advertise, connect on Facebook to your business page, sell your products, and use apps like Buffer to schedule content. And no, it won't have an effect on your engagement - that rumour has no substance or proof behind it. Plus, Instagram algorithms will favour business accounts which are actually business accounts.
If you haven't made the change yet because you're not sure how to actually do it, here is my super quick guide to help you make the change right now! So grab your phone, open up Instagram and let's get going.
*NOTE: You need to have a Facebook business page and be an admin on it. If you haven't or aren't an admin, this is the step you need to take before we dive in!
How To Change A Personal Instagram Account To A Business Profile
Login to your Instagram account and navigate to settings in the drop down menu on your profile - it will be right at the bottom of the dropdown.
In the options, tap “Switch to Business Profile”
Instagram will ask to connect your profile to a business page on Facebook - follow the steps and connect your accounts.
Choose a category for your business.
Make sure you fill out your contact details which are: email address, phone number and address. These methods of contact will be displayed as buttons on your profile so users can get in touch with you quicker and easier. You don't have to fill them all out, but you will need at least one method of contact.
How to Change Your Instagram Business Profile to a Personal Account
Login to your Instagram Business profile and navigate to settings.
In the “Business Settings” section, tap “Switch Back to Personal Account”.
Instagram will ask if you want to switch to a personal account. Tap “Switch Back” to confirm - and you're back!
The rule is simple - keep your personal accounts personal and private for you and your friends if you don't want everybody and their cats to find you on Instagram; and have your business display as a business on Instagram welcoming new client enquiries and sales.
